WRR.: ‘Profane Prayer took a long time, compared to the time between your other releases. Why did it take this longer?’
NM: ‘Unfortunately due to the covid situation, we were forced to stay at home, without having the chance to rehearse or tour or anything. So as you understand, 2,5 years we were on a lock down and nothing was moving either front or back. After the opening of the borders and lift of the restrictions, we managed to book some shows for the promotion of our previous album “Years of Aggression”. Nothing compared to what was originally planned for “Years…” but still we managed to do some shows.’
‘After that we entered the studio to start working on the new songs. It took some time more here as well, because we wanted to pay even more attention to the smallest detail for this album. Then, we did the recording and the mix / master BUT the war in Ukraine, affected the whole market. We had to wait one year till we manage to save our spot at the factories which print vinyl and cds. So as you understand, we didn’t have a break from discography, just a major fuck up.’
WRR.: ‘What is used as inspiration for this furious record?’
NM: ‘What was always inspiration for all albums so far. Our passion and love for the music. Every time we want to move forward, evolve, overpass ourselves. It’s not an easy task, takes a lot of personal time, a lot of commitment and dedication. But there’s no complaint here, don’t get me wrong. It is totally enjoyable and fun! Thank you for your nice comments on our new record.’
Sakis Tolis and Rotting Christ
WRR.: ‘Sakis Tolis is joining you. What does Rotting Christ means to you and to Greece?’
NM: ‘It wasn’t planned. During the vocal recordings, I woke up to go to the studio and I found Sakis there, recording some stuff for Rotting Christ or his personal, can’t remember which one. So, I started recording the song “Deathstalker”, he stayed there, hanging out with the rest of the guys, so I asked him if he wants to join me for some lyrics. He said yes, so that’s how he ended up doing some guest vocals along with Ethimis from Nightfall and Fotis Bernando the ex-drummer of Septicflesh.’
‘Rotting Christ is a legendary band from Greece, true legends. They are a good example of hard work, dedication and inspiration. We know each other since years and they are great friends and guys.’

Greece and metal
WRR.: ‘Nowadays Greece is having a lot of metal bands. Why is the Greek soil so good for this kind of music?’
NM: ‘Indeed Greece has a lot lot lot bands and a lot good bands. No matter which style do you choose, there will be for sure one or more good bands to choose and listen. I don’t know what in this greek soil hahah. For sure what I know is that there’s a lot of good material out there and I’m really glad to see more and more bands breaking the borders and participating to smaller or bigger festivals and tours as well.’
WRR.: ‘Now Profane Prayer is there, what are the plans for the upcoming months.’
NM: ‘We really hope to return to the normal activity of Suicidal Angels, which was non stop touring. We have already planned to tour the central European part, later on April we have UK, Portugal and Spain, then on May, some festivals already and goes on and on. We also hope that with this album we will manage finally to visit some of the places that we haven’t been so far, like the USA, Australia etc. Anywhere in the world there is a club, I wish we can manage and go! Thank you very much for your time and interview.’
