Gothic/black metal outfit Abscence have begun unveiling a new chapter in their story, announcing their upcoming EP Each Fervent Kiss, due for release in September 2026 through Wormholedeath Records.
The band first broke their silence on July 5, revealing that the new release would mark a significant new phase for Abscence. In their announcement, the band described Each Fervent Kiss as a release shaped by “darker atmospheres, deeper emotion, and a relentless pursuit of our artistic vision.”
“The silence is coming to an end.”
The July 5 announcement confirmed that the EP would arrive via Wormholedeath Records in September, although the exact release date was deliberately kept back. Abscence also teased that further details and the first glimpses into their new era would be revealed over the following weeks.

“More details, the official release date, and the first glimpses into this new era will be revealed in the coming weeks.”
The announcement ended with a message that has since become part of the band’s rollout:
“Until then… Remain in the shadows.”

Introducing the new lineup
Just two days later, on July 7, Abscence followed up the EP announcement by introducing the musicians involved in the new era.
Founder, composer and keyboardist Gawain was described as “the architect behind Abscence’s dark symphonic sound.” Alongside him, Aethra handles guitars and harsh vocals, bringing what the band call “crushing riffs, fierce vocals, and relentless energy.”
Further the line-up is completed by Zeth on bass, Glenn Veldman (known as a drummer for the Dutch thrash metal band Headless Hunter) on drums and Floor Vandenbrande (known from the Dutch black metal band Neroth) on featured clean vocals.
Abscence describe Zeth’s contribution as “powerful low-end and melodic depth that binds the chaos,” while Glenn brings “precision, speed, and intensity driving every song forward.” Floor Vandenbrande, meanwhile, adds a contrasting vocal element, with the band highlighting her “ethereal melodies that bring beauty to the darkness.”
The lineup announcement gives an early indication of the musical direction Abscence are pursuing, combining the band’s dark and symphonic foundation with both harsh and clean vocal elements.
“She was never asking for your blood”
The next piece of the rollout arrived on July 24. Then Abscence shared another cryptic teaser for Each Fervent Kiss.
“She was never asking for your blood. Only your consent.”
It once again confirmed the September release window and revealed two key members of the production team: Jim Pinder, who handled the mixing, and Ste Kerry, responsible for mastering.
“EACH FERVENT KISS arrives September 2026.
Mixed by Jim Pinder. Mastered by Ste Kerry.”
The band concluded the teaser with a simple instruction:
“Sound on.”
Rather than revealing the complete record all at once, Abscence appear to be building the campaign around a series of carefully timed glimpses into the project. Each announcement has added another piece to the picture, moving from the initial EP announcement to the lineup and then to further hints about the music and its production.

A new chapter for Abscence
The rollout suggests that Each Fervent Kiss is intended to represent more than simply another release for the band. From the outset, Abscence have positioned the EP as the beginning of a new chapter. One with their own artistic identity placed firmly at the centre.
The band have so far kept the exact release date and further details surrounding the EP under wraps. Their July 5 announcement specifically promised that more information would follow. That means there is still plenty left to be revealed as September approaches. Stay tuned for more information about this release.
For now, however, the message from Abscence remains consistent: something has been building in the shadows, and the band are finally beginning to let it emerge. With Each Fervent Kiss scheduled to arrive through Wormholedeath Records this September, the silence surrounding Abscence is gradually being replaced by something considerably darker.
