WRR: ‘As Lucie Sue is for a lot of people a new name, please introduce yourself.’
LS: ‘Sure ! I make music since I’m born. I’ve been learning Cello & classical music at the conservatory of Lyon in France. But I’ve always listened to pop, and then rock & metal music. I forgot myself for a decade, focusing on ma marriage and family, and then realized that working to realize other’s dream was not what I was born for. So I divorced, started all again from scratch, to make MY own dreams come true. 4 years ago I pull off my fingers from my ass, and decided to make it happen : making music, in the best way.’
‘I wrote a first dark album, because I was in a dark mood due to all the changes in my life. And then very quickly I wrote this second album, Battlestation, which is the opposite : Super bright, super powerful. Because now, I’m finally myself. I’ve never felt as good as now that I understand that there is no age, no gender, nothing that can impeach you to achieve your dream.’
Making music
WRR : ‘What made you to make music yourself?’
LS: ‘I’m lucky because music has always been in my DNA. Thanks to my parents who are musicians as well. I was born in it.’
WRR: ‘What did you use as inspiration for writing Battlestation?’
LS: ‘I’m speaking about things I have experienced only. Nothing is invented. Everything is true. It can be a bit exaggerated of course, in order to make it more beautiful or exciting, but it’s always based on a true story. Inspiration can comes from everything : an advertising, a word or the rhythm of MRI… everything can be turned into music!’
France
WRR: ‘In which way France as influence on this record?’
LS: ‘Although we are super lucky to be French, because our country is amazing for its culture, history and social structure. I don’t think France has anything to deal with this record. Because we all have been educated by British or American music, movies, TV shows, etc. Our influence comes from bands like Faith no more, Alice in Chains, PJ Harvey, Soundgarden. Also movies like Back to the future, Batman, Willow, Blades of Glory, etc.’
WRR: ‘What are the plans for when Battlestation is released?’
LS: ‘Once it’s released we will focus on the best part : Playing and touring around the world, being in concact with our fans and audience, share and spread our positive energy everywhere !’
