ALKHEMIA Release New Video for “Nonsense”

Leestijd: 4 minuten

French black metal band ALKHEMIA have unveiled the official music video for “Nonsense”, a track taken from their second full-length album, Häxen (check our Whiteroom Reviews item about the album here), released on 13 March 2026 via Non Serviam Records.

Watch the video for “Nonsense” here.

Dealing with the fate of those a society no longer considers useful, “Nonsense” explores a world in which human lives are reduced to commodities, actions become currency, and emotions lose their meaning. As the song unfolds, its bleak vision develops into an act of refusal, moving through images of earth, ashes and decay before reaching something more distant and ethereal: star-crystals evaporating and one final breath shining on its way out.

The accompanying video was filmed on a slag heap in northern France, one of the artificial black hills left behind by a century of coal mining. These barren landscapes, formed from the residue of industrial exploitation, provide a fitting backdrop for the song’s themes of abandonment, destruction and transformation.

The connection with the band’s name is no coincidence. Alchemy represents the transformation of matter, and “Nonsense” explores the idea of returning to the earth, leaving it open to interpretation whether this represents an ultimate ending or the beginning of another transformation.

“We did not want to illustrate the lyrics. We wanted to film the ground they end up in,” the band explains.

The video was directed by Laetitia Goreczny, with production, editing and colour grading handled by A.S.A. Ironwork was created by Camille Seguin Ferronnerie.

Alkhemia - Häxen

About Häxen

Released on 13 March 2026 through Non Serviam Records, Häxen takes listeners on a philosophical journey through witchcraft and the decay of a civilization collapsing into an Orwellian dystopia. In this world, those who refuse to conform are pushed to the margins and become outcasts.

Musically, the album balances violence and melancholy, speed and melody, maintaining a constant tension between rage and lucidity. Fans of Mgła, Naglfar, Gaerea, Der Weg einer Freiheit and Sargeist should find plenty to explore.

The album has received positive reviews from the international metal press, with Metal Underground describing it as “a true masterpiece of modern black metal” (4/5), while Metal Temple awarded it 8/10. The second pressing is nearly sold out, with a third pressing planned.

Upcoming Live Shows

ALKHEMIA will continue bringing Häxen to the stage with the following confirmed dates:

  • 14 November 2026 – Ancient Heretic Gathering III, Waregem, Belgium
  • 15 November 2026 – Le Klub, Paris, France

More dates are expected to be announced.

Earlier in 2026, the band toured Europe with the Tenebris Haereticum Tour, performing across Germany, Poland, Estonia and Finland during Part I, followed by further shows in France, Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic during Part II.

With “Nonsense”, ALKHEMIA deliver another dark and thought-provoking chapter from Häxen, combining the uncompromising intensity of modern black metal with a striking visual exploration of decay, rejection and transformation.
