Het Poolse ensemble HÉR heeft getekend bij het label Season of Mist en presenteert met ‘Needles and Bark’ de eerste single van het aankomende album Monochrome.

To mark this union, the band unveils “Needles and Bark”, the lead single from their upcoming debut album Monochrome. Inspired by verses from the Poetic Edda, the song channels the spirit of Icelandic fjords and Norse myth, its lyrics echoing an ancient meditation on decay and endurance: “The pine on the rocks dries and dies / needles neither protect nor the bark / why should he live long?”“
HÉR ontstond aan de noordkust van Polen en bestaat uit vijf musici met uiteenlopende achtergronden. Hun muziek beweegt zich tussen poëzie, jazz en rituele klankkunst: ruwe zang, bezwerende percussie en ijle strijkers vormen een sonore wereld die verwijst naar zowel de natuur als oude Noordse mythologie.

Het debuutalbum Monochrome verschijnt op 30 januari 2026 via Season of Mist. Het debuutalbum werd opgenomen in Monochrom Studio in Polen onder leiding van producer en geluidstechnicus Ignacy Gruszecki, en gemixt en gemasterd door Marcin Bors (Fonoplastykon, Wrocław).

‘Hér’ betekent ‘hier’ in het IJslands: een uitnodiging van de band aan de luisteraar om aanwezig te zijn, te ervaren en zich mee te laten voeren in het moment.
HÉR komt uit Gdańsk, waar vijf musici met een eigen stem elkaar vonden in een gedeelde taal van klank en emotie. Hun muziek is rauw, ritueel en vol contrasten, tegelijk aards en bezield.
Geïnspireerd door de Poëtische Edda verweeft HÉR Slavische melodieën met de ijle sfeer van het hoge Noorden. Hun geluid beweegt zich tussen het menselijke en het mythische, met keelzang, pulserende ritmes en betoverende vioolpartijen.
De band zoekt naar de kern van noordelijke schoonheid: vuur en ijs, geweld en tederheid, honing en bloed. Hér is niet alleen een naam, maar een uitnodiging: om stil te staan, te luisteren en te voelen wat in het moment ontstaat.
