Scene Queen trapt met single nieuw tijdsperk af

Hot Singles In Your Area was in 2024 de langspeler waarmee Scene Queen de aandacht flink naar zich toe trok. De zogenoemde bimbocore, waar roze en metalcore blijkbaar ook samen konden gaan, zette deze Amerikaanse flink in de spotlight. Nu is Scene Queen met een nieuwe single terug.

Die nieuwe single van Scene Queen heet ‘L-Shaped Couch’. De track laat een andere vibe blijken, want deze bijna zwoele track heeft stiekem de potentie om het vooral in de zomer goed te gaan doen. Het is tevens een voorbode op een nieuw tijdperk van Scene Queen. Hoe dat dan nu klinkt? Check dat hier.

“I wanted to make a slight genre shift in what feels like a very fitting time to do so. With the current political climate, I wanted to pay homage to a music era that I feel was ahead of its time. The disco era was dominated by marginalized people. Black artists were at the top. Queer artists were at the top. Women were at the top. It was an era where underground clubs were filled with people of all different races, sexualities, and backgrounds coming together to dance for hours.”

“It was dominated by groups that people were actively trying to silence. Yet, it was a genre filled with so much humor, joy, and light. And ironically, rock fans HATED it. I always try my best to push this genre into new directions and although disco had rock elements I’m hoping I can bring some new modern metal in as well. So with that, I’m starting this fun, new, collaborative, and crazy era with a little song for myself and my queer fans. About how my first queer encounter was as positive as one could have. I can’t wait to see where this new project goes.“

Scene Queen komt in september weer naar Europa. Ongetwijfeld gaan die shows weer flink opzwepend zijn en zal Scene Queen haar nieuwe single daar ook spelen. Nederland en België staan ook op de planning. Check hier alle data.
